Changing the font size
You are able to change the size of the font so the text is easier for you to read. This is best done in your web browser.
Some of the most commonly used web browsers can be changed by following these instructions:
Internet Explorer (version 6 and later)
- Click on the View menu
- Select Text Size
- Choose the size of text you would like
Firefox (version 2.9 and later)
- Click on the View menu
- Select Zoom
- You can then zoom in or zoom out on the text to change the size
- Alternatively, use ‘Ctrl +’ and ‘Ctrl -‘ to increase and decrease the text size.
Google Chrome (version 12 and later)
- Click the tool icon in the top right-hand corner
- Select Options
- Select Under the hood on the left-hand side
- In the Web content section you can adjust the font size and style

Changing the font style
You can alter the style of text that appears on your page so it’s easier for you to read.
Some of the most commonly used web browsers can be updated in the following way:
Internet Explorer (version 6 and later)
- Click on the Tools menu
- Select Internet Options menu
- Choose the Accessibility button (in the General tab)
- Select the Ignore font styles box
- Click OK
- Click on the Fonts option
- Select the font that you wish to use
- Click OK
- Click OK again to close the Internet Options screen
Firefox (version 2.9 and later)
- Go to the Tools menu bar and select Options menu (make sure that you are in the content section)
- Go to the Fonts & Colours section and select the font you wish to use
- Click on the Advanced button
- Untick the Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above box
- Click OK
- Click OK again exit the options menu
Google Chrome (version 12 and later)
- Click the tool icon in the top right-hand corner
- Select Options
- Select Under the hood on the left-hand side
- In the Web content section you can adjust the font size and style

Change the background text and colour
Web browsers can be customised so that website information is displayed in a way that it is easy for you to read.
The two most commonly used web browsers can be updated in the following way:
Internet Explorer (version 6 and later)
- Click on the Tools menu
- Select Internet Options menu
- Choose the Accessibility button (in the General tab)
- Select the Ignore colours specified on webpages box
- Click OK
- Click on the Colours option
- Uncheck Use Windows colours box
- Select the text and background colours that you wish to use
- Click OK
- Click OK again to close the options screen
Firefox (version 2.9 and later)
- Go to the Tools menu bar and select Options menu (make sure that you are in the content section)
- Go to the Fonts & Colours section
- Click on the Advanced button
- Untick the Allow pages to choose their own colours, instead of my selections above box and click OK
- Click on the Colours button
- Select the colours you wish to choose for your text and background
- Click OK
- Click OK again exit the options menu
